Leveraging deep customer insight for competitive advantage

This is the study of individuals, groups and organizations and the processes they use to select, secure use and dispose of products, services, experiences or ideas to satisfy their needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and the supplier.

This certificate course aims to help firms and organisations improve their marketing strategies by assisting them to understand their consumers enabling them to make a more informed decision as to which strategy to employ.

This brings up some interesting points:

The psychology of how consumers think, feel, reason and select between different alternative s such as brands and products

The psychology of how consumers are influenced by environment – culture, family, signs or media

The behaviour of consumers while selecting or making other marketing decisions

Limitations in consumer knowledge or information processing abilities influence decisions and marketing outcome

How consumer motivation and decision strategies differ between products that are different in their level of importance or interest to the consumer

How marketers can adapt and improve their marketing campaigns and strategies to more effectively reach their target group

Understanding these issues helps adapt strategies by taking the consumer into consideration by understanding that a number of different messages compete for the potential customers’ attention. Understanding the consumer enables a more informed decision as to which strategies to employ.
