Note: It is advisable for applicants to have completed the Management Certificate prior to commencing this course.

There are many demands on and challenges facing the managers of the 21st century. They need to be equipped with the right skills and attitudes to lead and manage their organisation. Amongst the many tasks undertaken by the manager, important challenges such as globalisation, change, and technology need to be managed effectively. It is also imperative that managers give much efforts and thoughts in manage diversity such as age, culture and gender.

The Certificate in Management Course mentioned on page 4 of this brochure provides a foundational understanding of what management is and the competencies required to be a good manager. Those undertaking the Women in Management Certificate are highly encouraged to undertake the One Day Certificate in Management Course as together both these days provide a solid platform of management learning.

The Women in Management course will address specific issues women managers face in their work, organisation and career development. This includes examining organisational culture, attitudes and behaviours relating to stereotyping, issues of gender in management and leadership styles, relationship and communication issues inherent in the interactions between women and men.

We will also explore women’s role as it conflicts between work, family and home, how female managers can combine these roles and how work can be restructured to accommodate and relive stress.

We will explore proven approaches, strategies and recommendations for women pursuing their career in management and shattering the glass ceiling. Course candidates will leave with tools and approaches to help them gain more self awareness to confidently pursue their choice in career and business ventures.
Each lecture will be one hour with opportunity for personal reflection, priority setting questions and discussion. Networking opportunities will also be promoted.
